Goals

  • Develop processes that insure efficient and auditable deployment and development while optimizing the free user experience. 
  • Review use cases and discuss problems. Push site  context to bring value to users and create user driven requirements. 

Expected Preparation

The 8/22 discussion we discussed using a two WS deployment  ws_dev > ws_test > app.  Is this the deployment process

Try doing stuff in Power BI and then add questions or use cases in the comments to the page.  Review the page before the meeting to determine what you want to discuss, like a comments.  The agenda proposed below may change based on users comments.

Discussion 

Michael Nesbit (Unlicensed) demoed finance excel model in dataservices and a POC  Power BI Report connected to the FinanceSA SSAS model in Power BI

Mike Smith demoed the ARIT Occupancy report and showed a POC  Power BI Report

We may need to enable workbooks for finance since they prefer excel but that requires using one drive with office to publish workbook to power bi from one drive. 

The Developer meetings are going to focus on security. How to answer these questions,Who as access to what?  Who has accessed what and when?

Adam Sottosanti (Deactivated) and Joseph Chanson How are we going to configure the gateway connections?  Use a single service account and grant access to the on premise databases or do we have other ideas?

Action Items from 8/29

  1. Michael Nesbit (Unlicensed) - create power bi financial model general ledger
  2. Ann Crawford (Unlicensed) - deploy GL workbook to power bi   - Workbooks must be published from one drive. Our one drive account does not support office so I cannot publish a workbook to PBI.
  3. Eric Johnstone - Power BI Form with Power Apps, we may not have the licensing for power apps this will be a POC
  4. Yaheya Quazi - Short design discussion on the entitlement and responsibilities security model.    
  5. Ann Crawford (Unlicensed) -  reach out to BSOs to demo to Darshan next week.  - email sent 9/4 
  6. Darshan Etz - check with Shen on integrating Google Data Studio with PBI and investigate security
