Resolve Department Standards Report
Â
*Please note that the term academic ‘warning’ was previously referred to as academic ‘probation’.
Overview
This Action is used to notify the Graduate Division and resolve the standing reason when a student who is on standing for a Departmental Standards of Scholarship reason has completed their milestone.
For example, if a student is on monitoring status for failing a comprehensive or qualifying exam, and the student passes the exam, this Action is submitted to remove the student from monitoring status.
You can submit this report at any time, as soon as the student has completed their milestone and should be removed from monitoring/warning.
Â
How to Initiate a Resolve Department Standards Report
Navigate to the student’s Action Tab in GradPoint Academics by searching for the student and going into their Action tab.
Click the Begin Action button
In the Action Category dropdown, choose Academic Performance & Progress Tracking, and in the Action dropdown, choose Resolve Department Standing
Step 1 - Submit Department Standards Resolution - Completed by the Staff Graduate Advisor
This step is to initiate the request, and submit it for the Faculty Graduate Advisor to approve.
Â
Check Report Reasons boxes
Most students will only have one reason, so that is all you need to check
In some cases, a student may have multiple reasons, so you would check only the ones that the student has met
Click Submit to move the Action to Step 2
Â
Step 2 - Review Department Standard Resolution Request - Completed by the Faculty Graduate Advisor
This step is for the Faculty Graduate Advisor to approve the request to remove the student from standing (monitoring/warning) for the reasons selected.
Make sure the reasons under Report Reasons are checked
Enter any comments if needed
Click submit to complete the action
Clicking Approve
Approving the action will remove the student from monitoring/warning for the reasons you selected.
It will resolve the standing record for that quarter in the student’s Standing Tab (this will be visible the day after you submit the action because the data is updated overnight)
It will cancel the future quarter follow up record in the student’s Action tab (this will be visible the day after you submit the action because the data is updated overnight)
If a student still has another reason they are on standing, the follow up will not be resolved until that other reason is resolved as well.
Clicking Deny
Clicking deny will terminate the entire request. You would do this if the action was submitted by mistake and the student didn’t actually complete the milestones.
