GSRs

Graduate students are generally not allowed to be employed past 50% FTE (20 hours a week) with exception to reader appointments. Employment over 50% requires department chair or Faculty Grad advisor approval and employment over 75% requires Graduate Division approval.

International students on student visas (F-1 and J-1) are not allowed to work over 50% fte while school is in session per US Immigration and Customs Enforcement.

Postdocs

Postdoctoral scholars are one of the few types of appointments that do not require an open search but potential postdocs still need to have at the time of the start of their appointment: a Ph.D or foreign equivalent, and they cannot have reached the 5 year postdoc maximum.

Staff

If you would like to hire an undergraduate student, please reach out to the Payroll Coordinator (currently Rosemary Rivas). If you would like to hire a Staff Researcher Assistant for your lab, please reach out to the MSO and Payroll Manager to coordinate.
