Hi Diana,
Great summary and questions. Please see below for a few clarification points and answers to your questions:
Clarifications:
- UCSB is in the process of renewing our Apigee contract this month - valid 10/20/2019-10/19/2020. When does your Apigee renewal expire? 10/19/202?
- Apigee stops paying Pantheon for hosting on June 1, 2020. Apigee stops paying for hosting on 5/31/2020
See my response to your questions in blue:
- When do we have to sign the additional contract with Pantheon - before we go live with the Drupal 8 site? Or before 12/31/2019?
- When will you begin work on replatforming to D8? You should be on the Apigee Elite plan at the moment you begin that development work.
- Will our first payment be on 6/1/2020 and for how much? You mentioned pro-rated payment, until when?
- We're holding payment until June for all existing Apigee customers given Apigee sponsors hosting through the end of May, this is what we mean by "prorated". i.e. if you were to begin D8 replatforming work on 12/1/19 and therefore need to be on the Apigee Elite plan on 12/1/19 on a 1 year contract term expiring 11/30/2020, you will be charged 5 months of service (6/1/2019 through 11/30/202), a total amount of $2,500 (prorating 6K rate for 5 months).
- What will the payment schedule be?
- Payment would be due on June 1, 2020. I realize this is a month before your Pantheon contract expires. We can discuss payment options here if a June 1 2020 payment date is challenging with the June 30, 2020 renewal.
- This will continue for up to 3 years of the contract date or until the UCSB pantheon contract expires.
- You have flexibility on the Apigee term duration as long as it is for a minimum of 12 months. I recommend aligning your term either to your next Apigee renewal date (the one past your immediate renewal this month) OR your future Pantheon renewal date - i.e. 6/30/201.
- When does the UCSB Pantheon contract expire?
- 6/30/2020

From Diana:
Hi Cara,
I wanted to follow up to confirm my understanding of the Pantheon pricing to host UCSB's Apigee developer portal, and also ask some follow up questions.
Here is my understanding of how this could work, but please let me know if anything here is not correct.
- UCSB is currently hosting the Drupal 7 Apigee portal in Pantheon
- The site is hosted under the UCSB generic Pantheon subscription, and not Apigee's.
- UCSB is looking to upgrade to Drupal 8
- Apigee and Pantheon have partnered to provide an Apigee distro that has the Apigee modules installed.
- Pantheon will host this site and provide Drupal and Apigee upstream updates. This is under the Apigee Elite plan.
- Pantheon will charge UCSB 6,000/year for the right to use the Apigee integrated Drupal site, which is 50% off the price to use and host an Apigee site.
- UCSB will continue to pay for hosting through the regular Pantheon UCSB subscription.
- This contract is available for up to 3 years, or until our UCSB Pantheon subscription expires. The contract will have to be negotiated after that again.
- UCSB is in the process of renewing our Apigee contract this month - valid 10/20/2019-10/19/2020.
- Apigee stops paying Pantheon for hosting on June 1, 2020.
My contract/payment questions:
- When do we have to sign the additional contract with Pantheon - before we go live with the Drupal 8 site? Or before 12/31/2019?
- Will our first payment be on 6/1/2020 and for how much? You mentioned pro-rated payment, until when?
- What will the payment schedule be?
- This will continue for up to 3 years of the contract date or until the UCSB pantheon contract expires.
- When does the UCSB Pantheon contract expire?
Ian Lessing can flush out the implementation details with Matt Paladino.
Thanks,
Diana
