The Standing Tab is part of the Student Profile.

Why You Need It

The Standing Tab displays the Academic Standing (Warning/Monitoring/Probation) in regards to the Academic Performance and Performance Policy. This will display the quarters that each status applied to a student.

The returns can be filtered by Year, Quarter, and Action

Quarter

This is the year and quarter that the record applies to

Action

This is the Academic Standing that applies to the record

Action Descriptions

Academic Standing Action	Active/Inactive	Notes
Warning	Active	Used for coursework performance issues
Monitoring	Active	Used for time-to-degree and standards of scholarship issues
Probation	Active	Used for all of the Reason Types, as an escalation from warning/monitoring
Cleared	Active	Used if the issue is cleared within that quarter
Department Pending	Active	Indicates that the Graduate Division is awaiting information, such as an updated recommendation from the department
Dismissed	Active	Indicates that the student was Academically Disqualified
Advisory	Inactive	Old status, no longer used, may appear in older records

Reason

These standards are described in the Academic Good Standing policy.

Letter Sent Date

This is the date that the Graduate Division sent the letter to the student notifying them of their Academic Status.

Progress Plan Date

This is the date that the corresponding Academic Progress Plan was received by the Graduate Division.

> 12 units of incomplete

A warning, no major repercussions
If no improvement after a warning quarter, department can request escalation to Probation

Warning does not prohibit employment
Home department employment exception needed (not sent to Graddiv)

Warning does not prohibit fellowship funding

Warning does not prohibit Financial Aid, however, Financial Aid can be effected if a student doesn’t finish enough work for a quarter, see Satisfactory Academic Progress on the OFAS website.

Not eligible to apply/be nominated, as students must be in Good Academic Standing

Monitoring

Master's Time-to-Degree Exceeded
Doctoral Time-to-Degree Exceeded
Advancement to Candidacy Deadline Exceeded
Departmental Standards of Scholarship

Equivalent to a warning, no major repercussions
If no improvement after a monitoring quarter, department can request escalation to Probation

Monitoring does not prohibit employment
If 1-3 quarters over TTA/TTD, Home Department employment exception needed (not sent to Graddiv)
If 4 or more quarters over TTA or TTD, employment exception must be approved by Graddiv

Monitoring does not prohibit fellowship funding

Monitoring does not prohibit Financial Aid

Not eligible to apply/be nominated as students must be in Good Academic Standing

Probation

Can apply to any reason
- Master's Time-to-Degree Exceeded
- Doctoral Time-to-Degree Exceeded
- Advancement to Candidacy Deadline Exceeded
- Departmental Standards of Scholarship
- < 3.0 Grade Point Average
- > 12 units of incomplete

Funding is not allowed
- If no improvement during the probation quarter, department can request academic disqualification

Employment is not allowed
Employment exception can be requested, only granted by Graddiv in rare situations

Fellowships not allowed

Financial aid is allowed, granted the student is still meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress

Not eligible to apply/be nominated as students must be in Good Academic Standing
