To request that an interdisciplinary emphasis be awarded, Emphasis Faculty Directors must Interdisciplinary emphases and Certificate Programs are awarded when Faculty Directors inform the Graduate Division that a student has completed all the requirements for the emphasis or program. This section will explain the duties and expectations for each of the parties concerned, the normal processing procedure, and exception procedures:

General Submission and Processing Information
Interdisciplinary Emphases
Emphasis Faculty Directors submit to the Graduate Division via email to gradacademics@graddiv.ucsb.edu a completed and signed General Catalog emphasis check sheet.

Emphases are awarded in conjunction with a doctoral (or master’s if applicable) degree upon completion.
