Y - Pre-req Approvals

Function

This screen is used to manage prerequisite approvals for courses. The approved prerequisite will be scoped to the department performing the data entry. If the course that's approved is data entered by the department that owns the course, then the prerequisite will apply to any course in the catalog. If the approved course is added by a department that does not own the course, then the prerequisite approval will apply only to that department's courses.

Data Elements

UCSB Course: Course Subject and number

DEPT: Department that data entered the course. For users that are limited down to specific departments, they are only allowed to data enter departments they are associated with in their STAR permissions.

ORIGINAL SCHOOL: For non-UCSB courses, the school that the course is associated with is displayed here

Original Course-ID: For non-UCSB courses, the course subject/number associated is displayed here

SCHOOL: Search field to select an outside school

Additional Screens/F-Keys

Add Course(F4)

Used to add a new prerequisite approval for a student. This is used for both UCSB and non-UCSB courses. To add a non-UCSB course, the school should be selected using the SCHOOL field prior to adding the course.

Special Processing/Bugs

There is currently no bulk mechanism for entering a course to indicate that the student has the course for pre-requisite purposes. The Y-screen functionality is the only way to do that.  Even the equivalent screen in SREG operates the exact same way.
