A fellowship is any payment to a student that is not salary or direct reimbursement for out-of-pocket expenses such as travel costs. All fellowships must be processed and disbursed by the Graduate Division.

  • Graduate Division is a clearinghouse for ALL graduate student fellowship support

    • Includes (a) Central Campus Fellowship, (b) Block Grant, (c) Department’s own Fellowship funds, (d) Extramural awards

    • Fellowship awards may cover Tuition, Fee, Health Insurance, Professional Fees, and Stipend

  • Recruitment Fellowships and Continuing Student Fellowship CompetitionsCompetition

    • Recruitment Fellowship awardees chosen by Department.

    • Continuing Student Fellowship awardees are chosen by Faculty Review Committees. Reviewers are nominated by Department Chairs.

    • Departments will receive a call from the Graduate Dean for the upcoming recruitment cohort during the preceding Fall quarter (e.g. 2020-21 recruitment fellowship competition call during the Fall 2020 Quarter)

      • Recruitment Competition Fellowship Nominations will be due at the end of in January

  • Central Fellowship schedule change requests can be made by Graduate Students with the support of Department Faculty Graduate Advisor

    • All fellowship schedule change requests are exceptional and are reviewed by the Dean

    • Students should consult with their department faculty graduate advisor before submitting a request
