Once the Step 6 approval goes through, then the action will be completed. Gradpoint will register the advancement, their BARC will be charged the $50 Advancement fee, and the student will be considered P2 at the start of the next quarter.

Staff Graduate Advisors can check the advancement status in Gradpoint under the Programs tab. Select the PhD program, and see if the qualifying exam date (and any language exam dates) populates on the right side of the screen. If the qualifying exam date appears, this indicates that the student has advanced.

Once students have advanced to candidacy, they will be charged a $50 Advancement fee to their BARC account. (Take this out if we’re getting rid of fees?
