Once all of the approvals are collectedthe Step 6 approval goes through, then the action will be completed. Gradpoint will register the advancement, and the student will be considered P2 at the start of the next quarter.

This will trigger a final email notification to the student, with a CC to the committee members and the Staff Graduate Advisor. <IS THIS TRUE? I’M NOT SEEING ANY IN THE TEST EMAILS, SO WANTED TO DOUBLE CHECK>

P2 status can go there as well as what to expect in GradPoint (where the exam and language data will show) and the adv fee infoStaff Graduate Advisors can check the advancement status in Gradpoint under the Programs tab. Select the PhD program, and see if the qualifying exam date (and any language exam dates) populates on the right side of the screen. If the qualifying exam date appears, this indicates that the student has advanced.

Once students have advanced to candidacy, they will be charged a $50 Advancement fee to their BARC account. (Take this out if we’re getting rid of fees? Or if we’re keeping them, should we add the fee acknowledgement somewhere in the workflow?)
