Graduate Student Researchers (GSRs) are paid by an extramural grant under the direction of a faculty member and are intended to support the research goals of the grant. GSRs are eligible for fee remission if appointed at least 25% time, to . To receive full fee remission, GSRs must be appointed for at least 35% in time across all GSR appointments combined over the three months of the quarter.
Students not employed as Teaching Assistants are typically employed as GSRs under the direction of the their Primary Research Advisor, given provided they remain in good academic standing.
